About C-MRS

The Chinese Material Research Society (C-MRS) currently has more than 120,000 individual members and 510 corporate members.

On this page you can find more information about our memberships, including how to become a member and how to manage your membership online, as well as how you can get more involved with C-MRS. For individual members, the membership becomes valid for a four-year term from the date of payment of membership fee.

Individual Membership Categories

There are currently five individual membership categories for C-MRS, which are listed below:

(1) Student Member

Students majoring in Materials and related disciplines are welcome to apply online to become Student Members. Students members are exempt from membership fees.

(2) Regular Member

Professionals who have obtained a Master's degree or above, hold intermediate or higher technical titles, or have made certain achievements and contributions in scientific inventions, creations, or practices, are welcome to apply online to become Regular Members of C-MRS. The membership fee is RMB 200 for one year, or RMB 700 for one term.

(3) Senior Member

Professionals who hold senior technical titles or are the council members are welcome to apply online to become the Senior Members. The membership fee is RMB 300 for one year or RMB 1000 for one term.

(4) Lifetime Member           

Professionals who are meeting all the following criteria can apply online to become the Lifetime Members:

a. Former council members of C-MRS;

b. Professionals who have a certain academic status and influence in the field of materials science and technology and regularly participate in major academic activities of C-MRS;

c. Individual members who have paid membership fees for more than 6 years.

There is also a membership fee of RMB 2000 for lifetime that should be one-time paid. For professionals above 60 years old, the one-time fee is RMB 1500.

(5) Foreign Member (¥500/year, ¥2000/term)

Foreign experts and scholars with high academic achievements who are friendly to China, and willing to communicate and cooperate with the C-MRS, are welcome to apply or be recommended for the foreign membership of C-MRS. After being discussed and approved by the Council or the Standing Council and then reported to the China Association for Science and Technology, foreign experts and scholars can be accepted as foreign members. Foreign members are entitled to preferential access to academic journals and related materials published by C-MRS and are invited to participate in academic conferences with other relevant services.
