The Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS) is a representative academic organization in China’s new materials field. Strengthening the development of a standardized system for cutting-edge and latest products in the new materials sector is a critical factor for China to gain a leading position in future international competition in new materials. To promote technological progress and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the new materials field, C-MRS has decided to establish and release the New Materials Group Standards System. This standards system is intended to provide scientific and standardized guidance for the technological application and industrial development of new materials, ensuring both the advancement and practicality of technical standards. The Society will focus on building a structured and systematic standards framework, promoting the standardization of frontier products and enhancing the overall level of the industry.

The New Materials Group Standards System covers key areas such as definitions, classification, performance evaluation, testing methods, and quality control for a wide range of cutting-edge new materials. It also aligns with advanced domestic and international standards to ensure comprehensive applicability. Its scope includes: the application of materials science and technology in new materials, new processes, and new equipment; design, manufacturing, installation, acceptance, and management in materials engineering and product manufacturing; testing, quality inspection, and evaluation methods in the materials field; as well as terminology, symbols, information technology, and management technologies related to materials. Through the implementation of this system, industry practices will be effectively standardized, product quality will be significantly improved, and innovation in new materials technologies will be further accelerated.

All relevant organizations, research institutes, and industrial research institutions are requested to closely follow the release of the standards system and make appropriate preparations and adjustments. Specific standards documents and implementation guidelines will be released through official Society channels and the “Materials Powerhouse” section of Xinhua Net, providing broad support and safeguards for the development of China’s new materials industry.

Through the establishment of the New Materials Group Standards System, we hope to further advance technological progress and industrial upgrading in China’s new materials field, achieving a higher level of innovation and development.
