In-depth Party-Building Cooperation Between the Party Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society and the Party Committee of the Jizhou Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee

From November 7 to 8, the Party Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society (CMRS) and the Party Committee of the Jizhou Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee jointly held a themed Party-building co-construction activity in Jizhou under the banner “Strengthening Foundations through Party Leadership, Empowering Development through Innovation.”
Through honoring revolutionary martyrs, revisiting the red revolutionary development path, benchmarking the original aspirations and mission, clarifying a sense of service, and consolidating collective strength, the event injected strong “red momentum” into the high-quality development of the regional new materials industry.

-Tears of Remembrance: Honoring Martyrs and Carrying Forward the Red Legacy

Members of the CMRS Party Branch visited the Eastern Hebei Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery to receive red education. Standing solemnly before the towering martyrs’ monument, all Party members observed a moment of silence and laid floral tributes, paying deep respect to the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence and the liberation of the people.
As the guide recounted the heroic and tragic stories of the sons and daughters of Panshan who fought bravely during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, many Party members were moved to tears.

“I seem to see the martyrs charging forward on the battlefield by Standing here,” one Party member said with emotion.
“Our Party’s cause has been paved by countless junior in their twenties,” another reflected.
“Tens of thousands of nameless martyrs gave their lives for the Party’s cause, yet even their descendants may not know their heroic identities,” others added through tears.
“They forged today’s peace with their blood. We must repay the legacy they left us with unremitting struggle and dedication.”

The Eastern Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area was an enemy-rear resistance base established in eastern Hebei Province after the July 7 Incident of 1937, in accordance with decisions of the CPC Central Committee and organized by the CPC Ji–Re–Bian Special Committee. It encompassed three core areas—Yaodaishan, Lujiayu, and Panshan.
Relying on the Tong–Tang Highway, the base area carried out guerrilla warfare and, due to its proximity to enemy and puppet strongholds, adopted a highly mobile operational mode often described as a “headquarters on horseback.” By 1945, it had expanded into the Ji–Re–Liao Anti-Japanese Base Area, administering 19 county-level governments with a total force of over 100,000 troops, becoming one of the nineteen major anti-Japanese base areas nationwide.

An Oath of Commitment: Revisiting the Red Gene and Staying True to the Original Mission

Que Minhui, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society, led all Party members of the Society together with some Party members from the Jizhou Economic Development Zone in solemnly revisiting the Party membership oath.
The resounding and solemn oath echoed through the mountains, powerfully demonstrating the firm resolve of scientific and technological professionals in the new era to inherit the red gene and shoulder the responsibilities of their time.

Striving Forward: Party-Building Leadership to Jointly Build an Innovation Hub

The Party Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society and the Party Committee of the Jizhou Economic Development Zone held a symposium themed “Strengthening Foundations through Party Leadership, Empowering Development through Innovation.” During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges centered on the concept of “dual integration and mutual promotion of Party building and business development.”

Zhang Liyong, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Jizhou Economic Development Zone, introduced that through multiple rounds of prior coordination and engagement, both sides have achieved phased results in areas such as technology transfer and talent introduction. On January 8, 2025, Peng Shou, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist of China National Building Material Group, together with Professor Han Gaorong of Zhejiang University and Professor Yang Huai of Peking University, led an expert team to Jizhou to inspect the glass industry. It was clearly stated that major projects would be advanced and implemented in the near future, injecting strong momentum into regional industrial upgrading. Subsequently, the Party Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society led members of the Jizhou Economic Development Zone Party Committee to visit Professor Pan Feng at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, where in-depth discussions were held on promoting the implementation of Professor Pan’s scientific research achievements in the Jizhou Economic Development Zone.

Zhang Liyong emphasized:“The Chinese Materials Research Society has brought Party-building co-construction activities deep down to the grassroots level, especially into our revolutionary old areas. As a nationally renowned academic society, it has devoted substantial strength to taking concrete and effective actions to support industrial upgrading in our revolutionary base areas, which has deeply moved us. The people of Jizhou will never forget this special care from the Chinese Materials Research Society, nor will we forget its noble positioning of providing targeted support tailored specifically for revolutionary old areas. We will spare no effort to provide high-quality services and guarantees, build the optimal platform for project implementation and talent introduction, and work hand in hand with the Society to accelerate industrial innovation, jointly creating a science- and technology-driven industrial hub that leverages the advantages of Beijing and Tianjin.”

At the meeting, a plaque-awarding ceremony was held. Professor Zhang Zengzhi, Member of the Party Committee and Secretary General of the Chinese Materials Research Society, presented the Jizhou Economic Development Zone with two golden plaques: “Industrial Innovation Center of the Chinese Materials Research Society” and “Expert Workstation of the Chinese Materials Research Society.”

In his remarks, Secretary General Zhang Zengzhi stated:“Industrial upgrading in development zones must be grounded in expert strengths. We should learn from the advanced practices of southern regions in talent attraction and intellectual recruitment, and introduce win-win policies that both align with the actual investment capacity of revolutionary old areas and encourage high-level talent to take root. This will pave the way for a number of high-end projects to be implemented in Jizhou, carry forward the red gene of our revolutionary base areas, and help build a better hometown for the new era.”
