To deeply implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Science and Technology Conference, intensify the orientation of serving national strategies in the Annual Conference of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), consolidate the academic foundation and enhance the efficacy of activities, a series of academic activities of the 27th CAST Annual Conference, with the theme of "Cultivating New-Quality Productivity and Serving High-Level Self-Reliance and Innovation in Science and Technology", is scheduled to be held in Beijing in July 2025. The Chinese Materials Research Society (hereinafter referred to as the Society), as one of the organizing units of this annual conference's series of academic activities, will host a sub-forum with the theme of the strategic planning of advanced materials for the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Formulating the strategic plan for advanced materials during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period is a key measure for China to achieve technological leadership, industrial upgrading and sustainable economic development, and it holds significant strategic importance and far-reaching historical influence. The conference is aimed at experts and scholars in related technical fields. We sincerely welcome extensive scientific and technological workers and people from all walks of life to actively contribute papers and participate. The relevant matters regarding the call for papers of the conference are hereby notified as follows:

1. Paper Themes

The themes of the papers should focus on the strategic planning of advanced materials for the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, including but not limited to the following directions:

1. Innovation and R&D:   Focus on achieving breakthroughs in frontier fields such as nanomaterials, two-dimensional materials and smart materials, establish an innovation chain of "basic research - technology development - industrial application", and strengthen the collaborative innovation mechanism among industry, academia and research.
2. Layout of industry:   Based on regional resources and industrial advantages, establish international-level material industrial clusters (such as developing high-end material R&D in technology-intensive areas and conducting in-depth material processing in resource-rich areas), and provide supporting policies, capital investment and intellectual property protection systems.
3. Transformation and Upgrading:   Promote the transformation of the material industry towards high-end, intelligent and green directions, enhance global competitiveness through talent introduction and cultivation as well as technological innovation, and support the strategic development demands of the country.

1. Requirements for Submission

1. The papers should be innovative, scientific and possess practical value, combining theoretical exposition, data analysis or case studies, and demonstrating quantitative and qualitative research methods.
2. The papers can set their own titles within the above-mentioned topic framework, with clear viewpoints and detailed content.
3. The papers should be accompanied by Chinese and English titles, abstracts, keywords and references.
4. The word count of each paper is preferably between 5,000 and 8,000 words, and the format should comply with the norms for paper arrangement.
5. Authors are required to guarantee that the submitted works (including pictures and tables) do not contain any fabricated, forged, plagiarized, content plagiarized from others or any other issues that infringe upon others' property rights, portrait rights or intellectual property rights, and do not involve state secrets or others' business secrets. If any infringement or leakage of secrets occurs, all responsibilities shall be borne by the authors

The email subject should be noted as "Submission for the 27th CAST Annual Conference Series of Academic Activities - Author's Name - Name of the Entity", and indicate the contact information and a brief introduction of the author in the body of the email for the convenience of subsequent work.

From the date of the issuance of this notice until 17:00 on May 30, 2025. Submissions received after the deadline will not be accepted.

1. Publication and Distribution

The Society collects original papers from scientific and technological workers in the relevant fields and will organize experts to review all submitted papers in due course. A compilation of academic papers will be finally formed for annual academic conference.   Among them, 10 outstanding papers will be selected and published in the "New Materials Industry" journal in the form of special topics or columns before the annual conference.
