From July 12th to 16th, the "Chinese Materials Conference 2018 and Xiamen International Materials Week" was held in Xiamen City. On the morning of July 13th, the 2018 Chinese Materials Conference (CMRS) opened grandly at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center. Professor Li Yuanyuan, Chairman of the Chinese Materials Research Society and President of Jilin University, attended the opening ceremony and presented the "Chinese Materials Research Society Science and Technology Award" and the "Second Chinese Materials Research Society Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award" to the winners.

The Chinese Materials Conference, initiated and hosted by the Chinese Materials Research Society, is the most influential high-level academic symposium in the field of materials in China. The conference consists of two parts: "Chinese Materials Conference 2018" and "Exhibition on New Materials, New Processes, and Materials Testing Technologies and Equipment." The "Chinese Materials Conference 2018" includes 33 sub-sessions and one forum on materials education, covering five major themes: energy materials, environmental materials, advanced structural materials, functional materials, and fundamental materials research. Additionally, a business matchmaking and exchange meeting was held. It is reported that the number of participants in this conference has reached a new high, attracting about 6,000 experts, scholars, and young scientists from around the world to participate in exchanges. More than 20 experts, scholars, and student representatives from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Jilin University attended the conference.
